The "MNC6" is the latest generation of our best selling 6 digit Nixie clock kit. It comes as a nearly fully assembled board and you only have to add a few easy to solder components onto the board to finish it. It's still a kit, but all the hard parts of the construction are already done for you - the board is pre-programmed and factory tested. You'll need about half an hour to finish the board, and another half an hour to add the tubes to have a great looking, ultra-reliable Nixie clock to show your friends and family!

The board also has swappable/replacable tube holder PCBs - if you need to change a tube (or even just want to swap for a different set of tubes) and you have to do is unplug it, and re-plug the new one. No soldering, no trouble, no worry.

We're really proud of this clock - all the little improvements that we have gathered over the years come into the design of this, and we think you'll be as pleased as we are. This clock uses "direct drive" to make sure that your tubes are bright and show no flicker at all. Other clocks use "multiplexing" (one digit is on at a time, but change fast enough that they all seem to be on at the same time), and this means that the brightness is reduced.
The "WiFi" version also has an additional module which means that your clock can connect to the Internet and use the standard "NTP" service to remain accurate forever. It even follows
"DST" (
Daylight Savings Time) changes automatically, and will never drift more that one second from the correct time, and remains bang on time year after year.
Oh, and we forgot to mention: The code for the clock is open source and you view and change it. If you want to make some changes you can upload your modified code using a standard "USBASP" programmer. If you want one, please just ask, and we have them available in the store. You'll get full details of where to get the code (Ebay doesn't like that we link it here).
We provide the "tube holder" PCBs to match your tubes, and you can unplug and replug them if you need, without the danger of trying to desolder and resolder a damaged tube.
If you like, you can also get spare tube holders so you can even change the entire set of tubes for a different set. The tube holder PCBs are not expensive.
A massive advantage is that you can use cheaper "used" tubes which often come with very short leads. In other clocks this is a problem, but not in the MNC6, where even tubes with leads as short as 6mm (1/4") can be used.
We supply all connectors (headers and sockets) as part of the package. All you need to do is pick the tubes you want to use!

WiFi version:
If you order the WiFi version, we will also send the pre-programmed Wifi module in the package. This keeps the clock accurate and has a web interface you can use to configure the clock. You'll never go back to using buttons again!
Real Time Clock:
There is a DS3231 battery backed Real Time Clock (RTC) chip already on the board. It's accurate to 1 second per month. The time is updated by the WiFi module if you have that.
Removable tubes:
No more desoldering tubes if something goes wrong. Tube holder PCBs and connectors are provided. You can buy spares if you want.
Direct drive:
For a bright, steady, relaxing display.
Open Source:
The clock code is available for download and you can modify and upload it using the on-board ICSP ("In Circuit Serial Programming") interface.
"Backlights":
backlights are the LEDs underneath the tubes which provide a glow to show off the tubes at their best (teh red lights in the picture above). You can choose between any colour, auto cycling or individually addressable mode.
Package Includes:
The package includes everything you need for the main board, but
does not include tubes or a power adapter
. You'll need to add these yourself. The tubes are easily available on Ebay, and the power adapter is any 5.5mm x 2.1mm "barrel jack" type supply with 9-12V DC, center positive.
